The births went smoothly and everyone is doing so well! The babies are all in open cribs (no isolettes/incubators) and breathing on their own. One has a little extra oxygen by nasal canula, but she is fine. They will be in the NICU for a short time but all are fantastically healthy. I just cannot believe they are here and they are mine. Kim's parents took the camera home for the night, but I will post pictures tomorrow.
I'm on magnesium sulfate to prevent possible seizures from pre-e and HELLP syndrome, and they won't let me out of bed until I'm off of it tomorrow. However, I feel GREAT - I just want more time with my babies. I am pumping away and ready to try to feed them tomorrow.
Thanks for all the support! I am so exhausted but just filled with so much joy right now! | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| I am in the hospital and bored. I was admitted yesterday for preterm labor symptoms, but they have managed to calm down any contractions. I'm staying here until at least Thursday, so they can keep an eye on everything, and they'll decide then whether I get to go home for a while or stay here until they're born. My c-section is scheduled for August 20th but I don't know if we'll make it that far. All three babies are estimated over 4 pounds each and if they were born now, the prognosis is good. We just want to keep them in a few more weeks!
Thank goodness for wireless internet. | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |
| When I've told people I'm expecting triplets, most ask "do you know what THEY ARE?" and my snotty, knee jerk reaction is to say "babies, I hope!" Of course I've never actually said that.
We did find out the sexes last week, though, and we're expecting two girls and a boy! The doctor said it is rare to see triplets at this gestation and not find any abnormalities, but all of ours look perfect and that we could not ask for anything better at this point. What a relief!

| I learned this week not to take it for granted when things are going smoothly. I have been feeling better and was a little more active in the past week. I cleaned some clothes out of a closet this weekend, and did a few other things to get ready for babies and for us to move this fall. On Monday night, I woke up bleeding everywhere. An ultrasound showed that everyone is okay, but I had a blood clot and earned myself 3 days of bedrest. Evidently Baby A enjoys using his/her placenta as a trampoline. We were so relieved to see all three babies moving and to know the heartbeats are perfectly normal: 160, 158 and 155.
I am 15 weeks, 3 days pregnant now...almost halfway to the average length of a triplet pregnancy! We are seeing a specialist in the next week or two, and are excited about finding out the sexes at that time. I'm not biased at all, but I think they're already pretty adorable. | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |
| I think it's only fitting that I post on 3/3, after 3+ years of heartbreaking infertility, to tell you that we are expecting 3 babies this year!
We saw them today on ultrasound, wiggling all over the place, and we have seen them twice before, but today we got to hear their heartbeats for the first time. They are perfect sizes with perfect heartbeats and perfect little arms and legs waving around.
I have never seen anything so beautiful. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
